Ranking of Horrors #4: Footage Found, Fulci, and Otherwise
[Music]
Bo: Without further ado, let's let's check out Uh the list here the the reason we're all here.
Bo: Uh list of the the top thirty movies.
Bo: Uh thus far we are we are going to add uh an even dozen to that list today, which I'm excited about. It's uh it's gonna be a fun uh a fun list, I think. Um And because these things tend to run long, um, and because I want to uh value your time.
Bo: Uh and and also um you know, look, uh science is uh efficient, if nothing else, brutal efficient.
Bo: So let's uh let's get to it. Uh the first movie uh we are gonna be talking about is a movie from twenty twenty entitled The Hunt.
Bo: Um I uh the year this came out I really enjoyed this movie.
Bo: Still do. Watched it just the other night. Uh FYI. Um if you are around on Sunday evenings about six PM.
Bo: Uh I I intend to do kind of a end of the weekend Sunday night movie, uh just like from my own childhood. Uh because what is middle age and late middle age if not a desperate attempt to recapture?
Bo: So last time we did the hunt, uh you know, I I get to share movies with you guys on uh on cast is the platform.
Bo: And it's just, you know, hey, this is a movie I really like, let's watch it. Um and uh so it is, you know, a an emotional favorite. I I like this movie.
Bo: Uh I think I think i it's a lot of fun. Um the premise of the film, uh for those who do not recall.
Bo: is that um There is a a text chain that is revealed that alludes to a thing called the manor where liberal elites capture, you know, salt of the earth.
Bo: uh you know, Magatype uh Americans, drop'em uh, you know, in the secret compound in New England and hunt them for
Bo: And uh lo and behold, it seems like that's what's going on. Only that's not exactly what's going on, it's kind of what's going on. Um but uh a bunch of obvious mega types are being in fact on.
Bo: Um it is uh hosted uh not hosted, it is stars, uh it is starring Betty Gilpin.
Bo: Of um Glow. She was on Glow. She was also on like
Bo: Pirates of Silicon Valley, something like that. Anyway, uh another show that I did not watch.
Bo: Uh but I love her in this. I think I've I've seen her in a couple of things.
Bo: And I think she's very good at
Bo: uh in almost everything she's in. I think she's particularly good in this. Uh I mean she's the star of the show. It lets her do some fun shit. Uh she gets to you know play an action hero, but also this kind of
Bo: you know, allusion to how she is damaged as a person and that maybe this is something she kinda needed. And this is also against the backdrop of uh
Bo: some political commentary. And one of the biggest complaints you can make about this movie, and I don't disagree with it, is that there's a bit of both sidesism in this uh movie, much like uh Oh you know, South Park is sometimes um accused of that and, you know, of other kinds of sadness.
Bo: But I d I do believe that this movie is satirizing both sides of this argument. I think the the thematic point that it is making uh is that this is not uh like i th you know, one once that you go to extremes and become
Bo: you know, an enemy to your fellow man and communication breaks down, then just awful shit happens. You know, uh you can't lose the ability
Bo: And uh and because it leads to misunderstandings up to and including the nature of Snowball from Animal Farm. And there are a lot of animal farm allusions, which is also appealing to me because I have
Bo: Door, the book Animal Farm. Um so yeah, there's a lot of things about the hunt that I I personally like. Plus, there's a fight scene at the end of the movie that is
Bo: Tremendous. And like up there with uh uh They live, you know, the Keith David Rowdy Rowdy Piper fight scene, it goes on almost that long. And I I really, really like
Bo: Uh so again, number of things I really like about the movie. I understand criticisms of it of like the people want it to take one side or the other in in the in the political debate. I find something
Bo: Not brave, that's the wrong word for it. I find something very uh comforting about a film that's like, no, no, no, no, no. I like both of these extremes are are wrong.
Bo: And and lead to uh, you know, heinous outcome.
Bo: Um and yeah, so I the you know, I I understand it, I get it, but I I I'm kind of on the side of the hunt with this one.
Bo: Uh but I like the fact that it's saying something, right? Like some like uh look at Alex Garland's
Bo: Civil War, which is a a movie about a goddamn civil war in America, and it doesn't bother to explain the politics of that how or or how it happened. And at least with the hunt, it's like you may disagree with the politics, but it doesn't try to
Bo: Like yes, i its message might be about uh sort of centrism, but it doesn't
Bo: It is also not about a civil war in America, you know? And Garland's movie, I think, is far more cowardly.
Bo: Um in terms of of its politics than something like the hunt. Anyway, we're not talking about that, but I I do think that.
Bo: Uh okay, so where does the hunt land though? Where does science take?
Bo: Um it look, it's it's a pr uh a a a gory movie at times, like a gleefully gory movie at times. Um you can argue that the comedy is played a little too broad sometimes.
Bo: Uh, but it does have that tremendous Betty Gilpin performance. Um, just her explaining like why she kind of needs this hunt uh to be a a whole person perhaps.
Bo: uh is is pretty great. So yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh terrific performance at at its heart. Um some of the jokes do land. Um I think that when y it detours into um this kind of internment camp slash
Bo: embassy thing that it gets a little soggy, so that's not ideal. Like the pacing uh loses something there. But but you know, the end of the movie is tremendous. It like it has a terrific third Um so not not the worst fault.
Bo: I I think we can safely uh let's let's go back to our list here. Um I I think we can safely say that the hunt is Uh certainly better than we are still here.
Bo: Um it is it is better than sting.
Bo: Ooh, is it better than Arachnophobia? There I mean,'cause they are both kind of horror comedies. There's a little more bite to the hunt. As much as I like Jeff Daniels, Betty Gilpin is more fun. I think it's better than that.
Bo: I think it's better than immaculate.
Bo: Uh uh sweet home is an interesting discussion.
Bo: Um you know, we've talked before about Sweet Home is a bit niche.
Bo: But it's it's quite good. Uh but I think it you know, it's silliness and talk about dragging. There are some moments in Sweet Home that you're kinda waiting for things to happen. So uh let's keep going.
Bo: Um is it better than X Cross, which is a really fun movie? Huh.
Bo: Somewhere in this neighborhood.
Bo: Is it better or worse than near dog?
Bo: Doesn't have the style of near dark. Hmm Late night with the devil is also interesting. It's it's I feel like we're in this neighborhood.
Bo: I think it's better than X Cross. I think it's better than the stone tape.
Bo: Is it better?
Bo: Late Night with the Devil, also great central performance. Little bit of a less exciting third act than The Hunt.
Bo: Um I think I don't I don't think it's as good as Near Dark. I think Near Dark is
Bo: It's just a cooler movie. Like Near Dark is a vibe. And the hunt is really fun, but like I said, you know, it it's not without.
Bo: Uh I think it's I think the hunt might be better than late night with the devil um but not near dark. So I think um I think what we are saying here uh is let's put the hunt Just to be clear.
Bo: There is another the hunt with um Michael Manson. So not that one. The one from twenty twenty. Uh okay. Alright, let's uh let's keep going here. We got we got work to do.
Bo: Um let's talk about the strangers chapter.
Bo: Uh Rennie Harlan has proposed a trilogy of strangers' films.
Bo: Um The Strangers Chapter 1 is is the first of those. The only actor that I I was familiar with.
Bo: in the film was uh actually two, but we'll get to that. Uh one is Madeline Pitt.
Bo: who was from the Riverdale show and she's just this like very striking young woman. Like it it once you have seen her, you're like, oh wow. Like she's got this really fiery red hair, uh a bit of a uh
Bo: Like a Bryce Dallas Howard type where you're like, Oh wow, that's a very striking ginger young woman. Um and and so I remembered her from watching a little bit of River.
Bo: Didn't really know anybody else other than Richard Brake, who does not have a speaking line in the film, I don't think, but is in the background of one scene in a dime.
Bo: And clearly he is going to have something to do with something in this trilogy,'cause you do not cast Richard Brake to play guy who does not turn around in Donovan.
Bo: So that aside.
Bo: Um uh the Strangers chapter one uh
Bo: is a bit of a remake in some ways of The Strangers. Um, you know, we're back at it at at this cabin in the middle of nowhere, um, where You know, we're uh having seen vacancy recently.
Bo: One of the things I was reminded of uh w was that like the the mechanic and vacancy. There's a little bit of that of like, oh, our car broke down, we gotta stay in town, uh hey, I can give you a ride to this.
Bo: like Airbnb c uh kind of joint and that's where you're gonna be terrorized. Um there's some of that and
Bo: It d there's not an original bone in its body. It it is such a retread of the original Uh the strange.
Bo: that it it's almost distractingly so, like all the hellos written on the walls are there. Um the you know, oh my goodness, he somebody's in the house and in the background while our main character is in the foreground.
Bo: Um even the end is the same, only the end of The Strangers has that great line of, you know, why are you doing this? Because you were home.
Bo: Which is terrifying, right? Like that's what makes the stranger so great. Um, other than the fact that it
Bo: Uh you know, a pretty scary movie at the time when it when it originally came out, it was uh there weren't the glut of home invasion movies uh the way that there are now, largely because of the strangers.
Bo: And as a result Uh, all of that stuff feels real tired now where in the original Strangers it felt
Bo: You you know, at if n if not unfamiliar, at least tense. It still was a formula that worked, and now it's just so delusive.
Bo: You know, this just feels like a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy. And you know, all the beats are there and I might have jumped once. You know, I'm not immune to it. Like there's a math to jump scares and
Bo: And sometimes they work. And so I'm not immune to that, but that's what it is. It's kind of a jump scare machine. But when you get to the the last line that they ate from uh the original of the, you know, why are you doing this?
Bo: The response is not because you were home, the it does its own thing, but it's just like everything about the movie, a little bit worse and a little bit dumber and a little bit less satisfying.
Bo: And, you know, the it the it ends with like a to be continued, like we're gonna do uh uh uh the Strangers chapter two. Uh uh apparently there's a chapter three on the slate. Fine.
Bo: Uh I I mean, will I see it? Probably. Probably. I'm curious what they do. Um
Bo: And and it there it there's such a like hey, here's a preview of the movie that you would like to watch. And that's the thing that kind of pisses me off about the stream.
Bo: Chapter one The Mos
Bo: Is that it feels like a preview for the movie that you should be watching. Like why stretch this out? We why remake the strange.
Bo: Why not just start from the place of, hey, you've probably seen the strangers, or if not, you've you understand the basic premise, or you saw Prey at Night or something.
Bo: Um yeah, it's just it's a it's a super frustrating movie. But what does the science say about the stranger's chapter?
Bo: Um with all that being said, like on a personal level, I would not tell you that The Strangers Chapter One is very good at all. But what does the science say? Um
[Silence]
Bo: Let's start with uh you know, the cleansing hour is kind of uh has been our Mendoza line. It's a little bit further down the list.
Bo: Um but it like that is the perfectly cromulent piece of interview.
Bo: That is, there's nothing terribly exciting about the cleansing hour. Uh, it has some good points, but mostly it's just a very routine, by the numbers competent film that is not going to inspire a lot of love.
Bo: Passion.
Bo: Uh vacancy is a little worse than that. Vacancy is not a good
Bo: Um so that's kind of our line. Is this oops is this um The Strangers Chapter 1, is it worse than the cleansing hour? Yes, absolutely.
Bo: Um does science tell us that um oh, let me switch over to the list here.
Bo: Does science tell us that is better or worse?
Bo: Uh then terror news.
Bo: Uh, which, you know, is that kind of host style found footage movie. Um
Bo: That had at least some interesting moments. It's not a good movie, but there's some stuff about it that I kinda like. So better than that, uh Terranet is better than uh The Strangers Chapter One. What about The Exorcist Believer? Another
Bo: emerging litmus test on our list. Uh, which is competently done, but what's the point? Um The exorcist believer is dumb in its bad, but it in its own way.
Bo: So it's better than The Strangers Chapter One. What about the boring SN Goshen?
Bo: is The Strangers Chapter One
Bo: Worse than Goshib. Goship has that opening scene that's undeniably
Bo: striking, you know, like the CGI doesn't totally hold up and etc. etc. Uh and then the rest of that movie is just it's so forgettable. I you know, I watched it recently and the details are already slipping away from
Bo: Um, you know, it uh like i i it's its own like men in black memory eraser that movie.
Bo: Um... But Is the fact that it there's one good scene and then a bunch of boring nonsense and ghost ship does that scientifically make it worse than the Strangers Chapter One?
Bo: Which is j yeah, the yes, yes, because Ghost Ship is at least a complete movie.
Bo: Um Chasing the Devil, boy. Oh boy.
Bo: Uh that like it Chasing the Devil is amateurish. It has some original ideas though that are kind of compelling. Um
Bo: Is it scientifically better than The Strangers Chapter 1? Cause I'm thinking like the the devil inside is
Bo: the same kind of problem. I think chasing the devil may be worse. I think I think at least There uh uh the uh Strangers Chapter One is a more professional
Bo: production. And the Devil inside is both boring and
Bo: Yeah, like the like the the yes. The Strangers Chapter One, uh, your new number twenty five. Congratulations. Um, okay. Let's keep it moving.
Bo: Uh the first of a couple of found footage movies on this list, Life of Belle, I'm a subscriber to uh Screambox.
Bo: Uh I don't know why I'm a subscriber to Screenbox other than it's inexpensive and It was like a dollar more for a year of Screambox, or I could just rent Terrifier 2, which I wasn't excited to see, but I wanted to see.
Bo: Uh, because yeah, I'd heard such good things and I hated Terrifier. Um and I I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Um
Bo: And I do think Terrifier 2 is better than Terrifier. I will I will admit to that. I still don't like it.
Bo: Uh anyway, not what we're talking about. But Life of Bell uh popped up on the my screen box stream when I went over to check to see what was new.
Bo: Uh and it had been in like the top ten for um a few weeks when I I pop over to see what's going on over there. And Life of Belle is a found footage movie about a young girl named Isabel.
Bo: who is given a camera and is sort of encouraged to kind of film everything and be her own like movie star and so forth. And that's the premise for the uh why we're filming
Bo: As well as some security cameras at home and so forth. But it's the the the big question of the movie is is Isabel's mother going crazy.
Bo: Or is there something supernatural going on in in this?
Bo: And You know, the movie does finally answer that question in a way that that is kind of striking, but this is a great example of a movie that's like ninety minutes long.
Bo: Um, is that right? Maybe it's not that long. Maybe it's like an hour and ten minutes long. Maybe maybe it just felt long. But where nothing really happens for most of the movie. You have a couple of moments where you get an escalation of the mother
Bo: And and more unstable and then this young girl and her brother being terrified.
Bo: And then, you know, the end happens and there's five minutes of craziness and and then the movie's over. Um it's fairly by the numbers. The kid's not terrible and and not too embarrassing.
Bo: Um the mother is you know, less consistently good, I would say. Um The end is kind of interesting, but it's a very routine found footage movie.
Bo: Mostly it feels very amateur, even though the kids are not terrible. And in fact, there are a couple of moments like where clearly we got some candid
Bo: moments with the kids where they were just being kids and it feels pretty authentic and that's pretty good. But it's not enough to carry this movie.
Bo: Um Life of Bella is not not a good movie. It's not awful, but it's real dull. Like again, let's let's start with uh let's start with Cleansing Hour.
Bo: And um Life of Bell worse than the cleansing hour.
Bo: Which is more competent and more overall entertaining. Um Vacancy is better.
Bo: Terranet is better The Exorcist Believer Hmm Better or worse Is the Exorcist Believer better or worse? Gosha
Bo: Like we're w again, we're playing in this territory. Like Chasing the Devil is the other found footage movie in this range. Life of is is Life of Belle worse than
Bo: Mm, and maybe, maybe. It's not as bad as the boring as in Yellow Brick Road.
Bo: Uh and and it's better than Devil Inside. So I think in very short order here, we can safely say that Life of Bell finds its way to number twenty seven on our list.
Bo: Good, good. I like how this is going.
Bo: Uh thirty minutes in, good. All right, let's keep it rolling.
Bo: The Vampire Next Door, I think perhaps a Tubi original. Um sometimes I'm cruising through the Tubi.
Bo: And you know how uh if you pause over a movie it'll kinda show you
Bo: a glimpse, a few seconds of the movie or whatever, or the uh the trailer. And that's what happened to me with Vampire Next Door, where it stopped and was like, Oh, this looks like Fright Night. They're just doing a Fright Uh little did I know that was
Bo: completely what they were doing. Uh The Vampire Next Door is a movie about a nerdy young man who uh has a vampire move in next door to him. Um and Up to and including seducing his girlfriend, kind of.
Bo: Uh, except this time it's a lady vampire, not a man vampire. But like the music cues are kinda the same. He's got his nerdy friend, uh, Ally Evil Ed. Like
Bo: So much of this movie feels like Fright Night. It's not a one to one. Like the the the plot is not completely ripped off, but there are moments and scenes and sort of character archetypes and
Bo: Like i i you get it, right? Like there's no mistaking that this is a riff on Friday night.
Bo: Well, but what if um it was poorly edited and directed?
Bo: And the acting was not so great. And
Bo: Um, you know, there there were really no effects to speak of. And also, just the basic rules of vampires.
Bo: not explained in this movie. As we talked about recently with a movie like Abigail that that plays around
Bo: with vampire lore and vampire mythology. This movie seems to do that because you see the vampires out during the daytime, but It doesn't really address that or explain what vampires are, or you know, are they all feasting on blood, but sometimes they don't seem to need to, and it
Bo: Oh my god. Oh man, this movie made me so mad. Um But I couldn't stop watching it. I was like it is both completely Fright Night, but also A little bit Fright Knight too in a way and It just a little bit Renfield it.
Bo: I the whole thing is just this weird mashup of fright night esque scenes and music cues and bad editing and takes that go on too long and actors that definitely needed a second take.
Bo: um or better direction. It's like I I d I'm not blaming the actors for
Bo: the performances that they give because there are the there are moments where it kinda works, but i this is just a direction thing, folks. This this is you know, direction, d uh uh uh the cinematography, uh the like there was a bad or inexperienced DP who just didn't know how to light stuff.
Bo: it uh in a way that made it scary or moody or compelling and it has this like 80s veneer over the film to further the connection to Fright Night, but that just fails to it's a bad
Bo: It's a bad, bad movie. But you might ask, where does it fall in?
Bo: in our list. Where would a movie
Bo: Like the vampire next door end up on a list. Well, I think, you know, we can all say that it is going to be beneath the cleansing hour, and my how we're filling out some some of the bottom of this list.
Bo: It's it's worse than the strangers chapter one. It is equally derivative.
Bo: And equally infuriating because of its derivative nature, but uh The Strangers Chapter One is directed by someone who knows how to do it.
Bo: So uh Chasing the Devil has more interesting ideas. Life of Belle has more interesting ideas. Uh The Devil Inside has some moments and
Bo: Well, but it's pretty infuriating too. It has better acting and better direction. Yellowbrick Road is an incredible waste of time. Um But it is going for something.
Bo: It's just failing. And then Blackwater Abyss is an unnecessary sequel that is also dull and really has nothing going on.
Bo: Not really any good kills. I still think it's probably a slightly more interesting production.
Bo: um or a b a more competent production and then and then we're down to last uh sorry, Lost Voyage with uh Jud Nelson um which just becomes utter garbage uh at the end of it and Ugh
Bo: I oh man. It is not. Gods of the deep is worse. Gods of the deep is a I think Lost Voyage if we if we consider the science, Lost Voyage is A a better movie, but it's I mean only because some of the performances by supporting actors.
Bo: So the vampire next door right next door
Bo: Uh to Gods of the Deep and Lost Voyage. In the bottom three, surprisingly. I didn't think it was going to drop that low, but here we are.
Bo: Alright, let's talk about some some more interesting stuff, shall we? Let's let's get out of the garbage bin and talk about um let's talk about some Fulci. It was gonna happen sooner or later.
Bo: Uh might as well be now. Let's talk about House by the Cemetery.
Bo: House by the cemetery. Um so this is the Fulci joint in which A family moves into a house in which uh a researcher lived there before and had killed his mistress.
Bo: And, you know, like there's it's th some business with cursed houses and and witches and um and and and just general foolshi weirdness. Um This in my mind is kind of lesserful.
Bo: It's not bad. It's still it's still okay Fulci. And there's some really good stuff. Although the this also features the uh this movie. Uh warning. This movie features a young child named Bob.
Bo: And there is nothing weirder to me than hearing people refer to like a
Bo: you know, eight, nine year old as Bob. Bob first of all, Bob was my dad's name, so maybe that colors it. But Bob also feels like a guy that comes to fix your air conditioner.
Bo: Uh b not a child. But I guess, you know, bobs have to start somewhere. All bobs start as children. Uh you heard it here first.
Bo: Um, it's it's okay. It's okay. House by the cemetery is okay, Fulch uh, Fulci, which is to say that it's moody, it's got the, you know, uh Claudio Fabrizi music.
Bo: It's you know, got his his vibe, that sort of uh hazy dream like quality to things that are going on and um this question some really good like mannequin head decapitations in this and
Bo: Uh there's a knife through the back of someone's head where the tip comes out the mouth. That's a really good Fulci like ugh uh uh moment and yeah, it's it's good. It's good. It's not great Fulci.
Bo: It's not it's not great Fulci, but it's it's okay Fulci. Um which begs the question w how would a movie like House by the Cemetery fare?
Bo: on our list. Where does a Fulci end up?
Bo: On this list. Well, let's start with the cleansing hour. It's better than that. It's got more character than that.
Bo: You know, it like the lows of House by the Cemetery are lower than anything in the cleansing hour, but the highs are indubitably higher a as well. Um Strangely, it's it's under Paris feels like
Bo: There's a little bit of kinship there, even though the movies could not aesthetically be more different. But there is a a certain kind of nihilism.
Bo: Uh to it.
Bo: I I beg you to explain it to me in a way that does not involve uh a shrug and then well because Fulci Um So i in in the neighborhood, then we are still here is kind of an interesting question because we are still here on our list at uh number seventeen.
Bo: Um, We Are Still Here is inspired somewhat by Fulci. Strangely though, I think it's a better movie than House by the Cemetery.
Bo: Um so I think
Bo: House by the Cemetery is better than Under Paris. It it is not as good as we are still here, which is in many ways a Fulci homage, but is a more coherent, kind of satisfying cinema.
Bo: Um so interestingly, House by the Cemetery, number eighteen under uh We Are Still Here. Um okay.
Bo: That out of the way, let's get to our other Fulci on this list.
Bo: which is uh certainly better than average Fulci, that's City of the Living Dead. Uh this is the movie, ladies and germs.
Bo: Uh that when I was a kid.
Bo: um and saw the the vomiting up of the intestines, I was forever changed. This is what made me fall in love with Fulci, City of the Living Dead. Um used to con confuse this movie a lot with the Which I think might be Fulci's masterpiece, uh, for lack of a better word.
Bo: It is it it might be my favorite full.
Bo: Um but City of the Living Dead is real damn good and it's very rooted in Lovecraftian kind of you know, there's this a priest that hangs himself and Dunwit.
Bo: And Uh as a result that is set in motion the opening of the gates of hell and we've gotta stop it before midnight on this specific day and we've got a couple of teams of people uh doing that very thing, one of them uh with Christopher George of Grizzly and Day of the Animals fame.
Bo: And um another that is um led by, you know, some of the locals of Dunwich who are starting to experience
Bo: uh weird shit. Um, including a seance and like House by the Cemetery has a seance that goes bad as well, but uh uh City of the Living Dead have a seance that ostensibly kills somebody.
Bo: And
Bo: So that's the premise. That's that's what Fulci is hanging all the gags on. But it's just an excuse to do uh like the crazy shit like hey, this priest shows up and then you start crying blood.
Bo: And vomiting out your intestines and that's what kills And you know, these days, you know, with the uh the advent of Blu ray and and four K and whatnot, you can see the tubes, the filament tubes, uh that they use to
Bo: deposit the bloody teardrops in the eyes of the actor and but it's still a good gag. It's still a good effect. Uh the vomiting up the intestines is a great effect. Um
Bo: you know, there's a a scene where baggots just fly at all the actors and they're the real actors. Like, imagine.
Bo: being an actor and being told like we're just gonna use this like airplane engine to throw maggots on you and everyone else in the room. Um
Bo: There's good skull crushes. There's some good like end of movie just creepy zombie stuff. Uh, in you know.
Bo: in the in the basement of this place. It's not as bold as the Beyond, you know, uh this is criticizing it for what it's not and not for what it is, but it is um
Bo: It it it's good Fulchi. Like really good Fulchi. City of the Living Dead is really good Fulci. Um not his best in my my estimation, but good. And so let's put it on the list.
Bo: Uh let's just start with House by the Cemetery. Uh this is better than House by the Cemetery. It's better than We Are Still Here. It's better than Sting. It's better than Arachnophobia.
Bo: Um, it's better than Immaculate, it's better than Sweet Home, it's it's better than Amiv Amityville to the possession, better than house, better than X Cross. Um Better than the stone tape, said Better than late night with the devil.
Bo: Better than the hunt.
[Silence]
Bo: Um...
[Silence]
Bo: Hmm. Better than is it better than near dark?
Bo: Better than Near Dark. Is it better than Abigail? Like the innkeepers, I feel like.
Bo: From a scientific point of view, it's a mo more coherent story. It's more thematically rich.
Bo: It's better acted. Like the Innkeepers is a much more elegant kind of film and it it it is a it is a better film.
Bo: Abigail is Abigail is real damn good. Abigail is real damn good City of the Living Dead just has the bottom.
Bo: And so City of the Living Dead, your new number five.
Bo: City of the Living Dead, number five on the list. Alright, alright, good. We are trucking along.
Bo: uh in and doing uh the Lord's work. Okay.
Bo: Uh let's talk about not that. Let's talk about uh the Phoenix incident.
Bo: Yeah. What about the Phoenix incident? Um
Bo: So, the Phoenix incident also found footage. Uh we're we've got a handful of found footage uh films here to go.
Bo: Ah. And the Phoenix incident is, of course, uh referring to the Phoenix light.
Bo: And it's both some found footage of uh these kids, and by kids I mean like twenty-year-olds, who are out, you know, having an adventure and run afoul of an alien ship that's shot down as F sixteen's, I think, um you know uh dog fight with uh these aliens.
Bo: And um yeah, and so aliens get loose on the planet and You know, kill a bunch of kids and there's a crazy guy who's got a compound and This is all done and found footage, and there's some book ending stuff where you have this major kind of guy who's like, Hey, by the way, um
Bo: You know, this has been going on for years and aliens are slowly making their way towards population centers and etc etc. Uh all a bunch of Um and I don't I don't think that the Phoenix incident is a bad example of this kind of movie, but it is an example of this kind of movie.
Bo: You know Um It is it is very much a found footage, aliens
Bo: chasing people around kind of film. But it it does have a look for the aliens that's kind of interesting. It's it's a little bit Starship Troopers, but it's it's interesting. They're going for something, and that's nice. Um Then you've got uh
Bo: Sorry, I'm uh I'm as I'm thinking about the the Phoenix incident, I'm I'm trying to think of other examples like there's the Phoenix lights, the Phoenix tapes, Phoenix uncovered, something like that. There's another one of these
Bo: And um I I do not remember what the name of of the other uh I'll have to look it up and we'll we'll do it on another list. But anyway, Phoenix Incident is um it it's it's fine.
Bo: It's not dull, and and so y give it credit for that.
Bo: Um but it i it does have some fatal flaws. Like this crazy guy that lives in a compound business is just nonsense and
Bo: I mean who could possibly even care? Uh so that stuff I don't think is very good at all.
Bo: Um you know, the friends are mostly okay and it's it it's fine. Like this is real background kind of entertainment as far as I'm concerned. So uh, you know, again, let's not screw around.
Bo: Let's uh put it on the list. Where does the Phoenix incident land?
Bo: on our list of films. Uh which now we have to scroll through. We are we have enough that it fills up more than a screen, which uh, you know. Uh fortune favors the bolt. Um Okay.
Bo: It is oh all right, let's start it with with uh uh the cleansing hour.
Bo: It's worse than that. I don't know that I would recommend the the Phoenix incident because it is not there's nothing exceptional about it, found footage-wise.
Bo: Unless you're just kind of into alien stuff and so I think that puts it in Uh this may be pretty quick.
Bo: Is it better than ghosts?
Bo: I mean Ghost Ship does have that beginning and then the rest of it's kind of dull. Whereas the Phoenix incident is there's at least stuff happening.
Bo: Um, so I think it's actually better and I think it's better than The Strangers Chapter One. Um I mean it is it's still derivative.
Bo: But You know, I probably had more fun with Phoenix incidents.
Bo: It at least has like, you know, Fleer cameras seeing aliens tear somebody apart. So on that level, I think maybe it I think I think it kinda is right here at like number twenty five.
Bo: That it's r it's Terranette is a slightly better movie.
Bo: Overall, and The Exorcist Believer is a slightly worse movie, even though it's more competently made. Uh, it has fewer
Bo: interesting ideas. I like I would rather watch the Phoenix incident over Exorcist Believer. Alright, well look, hey, you know, if we reach a decision
Bo: With this kind of effi efficiency, let's not let's not look it in the mouth. Alright, the Phoenix incident, your new number twenty five. Alright, folks. Let's get to a an honest to goodness real movie.
Bo: Um and talk about Overlord. Let's talk about Overlord. Um
[Silence]
Bo: is uh a movie all about uh uh uh World War Two, you know, like the invasion of Normandy, D Day. You guys have heard it of it. Operation Overlord. Anyway.
Bo: Uh this is like, hey, this is a team, we're gonna go behind em enemy lines. Um our mission is to parachute in, uh find this uh radio tower in this little town, take it out, disrupt communication so that
Bo: Um it disrupts air support uh or you know, it h helps uh the the the air force move in, disrupts uh the the German lines and uh air defense. That's what I'm trying to do.
Bo: Uh and then our soldiers parachute in, a bunch get killed in in the landing, after the plane explodes, they're all uh scattered to the winds. When they finally do regroup, the survivors.
Bo: Uh, they they find the town and they realize, oh my goodness, there is something crazy going on under this church. Um at uh uh at this town uh and and under the church where this radio tower has been built.
Bo: So uh turns out, of course, uh these are Nazi experiments to create super soldiers, because what else would it be? Uh but the super soldiers are kind of zombified, and so it's really just kind of a zombie story in a lot of ways.
Bo: Um, but it's really uh a pr a pretty fun movie. Um the uh one of the things about it that I didn't appreciate at the time when I first saw it is that this uh is one of the I don't wanna say early movies, but I guess one of the more higher profile movies that Wyatt Russell
Bo: was in a few years ago, uh, but who is Kurt Russell's son. And knowing that now when I watch him, I think somebody said that he's got real like eighty two the thing vibes in this movie, and he really does. He he does remind me a lot of Of a young Kurt Russell, which is never a bad thing.
Bo: Um yeah, so th there's that and I'm forgetting the name of the the lead actor who plays Boyce, but he's also very good.
Bo: Um yeah, so it's uh like the performances are are are fun across the board. Um the guy what was in that Cloverfield Paradox movie
Bo: uh who plays the the main Nazi is he's a really good villain. Um you know people kind of praise the last act of this movie and that's where it gets kind of campy and over the top and really fun.
Bo: Although it it does that you know, it has periodic moments throughout the movie. Like it is a good kind of popcorn action horror movie.
Bo: Um and so with that in mind, let's take it to the list.
Bo: And talk about where where does Overlord land on a list uh that looks like this? And and starting with cleansing hour.
Bo: It's better than that. Um it's better than we are still here. It's better than sting.
Bo: Um, it's it's uh is it better than Immaculate? It's mmm
Bo: Immaculate has some moments that really fucking go for it. Uh And it's not like Amityville 2 The Possession is truly distasteful, but in a way that's kind of shocking and and makes it a more interesting horror film.
Bo: So, Overlord I feel is closer to arachnophobia. I don't think it's as good as a magazine.
Bo: Like it's probably more door to door entertaining, but scientifically speaking, immaculate is is really much bolder.
Bo: Arachnophobia.
Bo: Has that awful Jimmy Buffett song, and Overlord at least doesn't do that. It has kind of a a hip-hop closing song that feels anachronistic, but it's not terrible. And and it doesn't end in a way that M you know, is like, oh, here's the setup for the sequel, which is good.
Bo: Uh I think that's it. I think it's I think it's our new number sixteen. I think it uh it goes neatly between immaculate and
Bo: And arachnophobia. All right.
Bo: All this is great. Uh all right, let's get to the real business here.
Bo: Um I watched just yesterday, uh sorry, day before, every Ding Dong Rec movie. And let's put them on the list.
Bo: Let's do the rest.
Bo: And uh let's talk about the first Rek. Holy shit. Holy shit. Rec uh, you may have heard. Great fucking horror movie.
Bo: Um still is. Still holds up. Still is a great fucking horror movie. If you have never seen Rex,
Bo: Um short for record, I am led to believe. If you have never seen Wreck, turn out the lights on a dark night and fucking let it roll, people.
Bo: It is uh a real something.
Bo: Wreck is a real something. Uh I remember, and I've probably told this story on one podcast or another, but um I remember Uh
Bo: G uh importing Rec because there was no way to see it l locally. Like there was no
Bo: There was no American distribution for it yet. So I ordered a copy that had English subtitles from Spain.
Bo: When Wreck came out on DVD because the buzz was, hey, Wreck is fucking for reach.
Bo: And I li I was chasing the dragon baby. I was trying to find the thing that would scare me, right? And sure enough, uh there was there was Rep.
Bo: And uh in wreck scare the shit out of me. So I loan it to a friend of mine. Um And um I give it to her to watch.
Bo: And w her reaction to it at the end of the day, which I r I really appreciate, was her saying, um, you know I I was happy when it ended because I don't know how much more I could have taken.
Bo: And I really appreciate that, you know? Um, like that is a hundred percent the reaction that I hope uh uh of a horror movie engenders in me and people that I recommend movies to of just like, oh shit, this was scary as hell.
Bo: Uh I really I really like that. Um and so I th for that reason, among among many others, I love Rick. Um
Bo: Joseph says a coworker once asked for a horror recommendation because her kids mocked every horror movie. She tried to show them. I told her show them Wreck, and they didn't last fifteen minutes.
Bo: Uh yeah, because Rec is fucking scary. Uh yeah. Uh like I said, my friend Alan, when she was like, I just needed it to.
Bo: I'd like I wanted to watch it all, but I was so like exhausted at the end of the original.
Bo: Um yeah, and so if you don't know, it's the story of uh uh Angela Viral, who g who uh does television st show like
Bo: Basically called while you were asleep, something like that. It's a uh you know, hey h when when you're asleep, here are jobs that are being done overnight. Like somebody mentions one about like garbage work.
Bo: Uh, in this case it's firemen and she's going through the firehouse and um
Bo: you know, interviewing the fire peop the the the firemen and the women who answer the phones and talking about like, hey, I you know, I want there to be a call, but I I don't want it to be I don't want anything bad to happen, but it'd be fun to see like you guys going out on a routine.
Bo: And sure enough, call comes in, woman barricaded in her uh apartment seems to need help.
Bo: So we show up at this apartment building and in very short order
Bo: We realize something is very wrong with this woman. Um, things are not what they seem, and also the building is now quarantined, and our characters are trapped inside as things begin to escalate and then get wildly out of the way.
Bo: It is one of the best movies about uh uh like creating that sense of escalation that you are constantly in a state of anxiety and that anxiety is only getting worse.
Bo: as things in the movie get worse and things get more hectic and crazy. And it's just one of the finest examples of how found footage movies
Bo: can can really bring you into the moment. It feels authentic. Now all of the people in the movie feel authentic. Even the kids. Um, you know, Angela Vidal is perfect.
Bo: Uh, she's amazing in this movie. Um
Bo: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Somebody pointing out the all right, so the end of the movie, of course, is the the Medeiro's girl uh you know not to give everything in recoil, but the movies, you know, they're three goddamn secrets.
Bo: You should have seen Rek now. If you haven't, uh it still it still works. Trust me.
Bo: Um but yeah, there is a creature at the end of this movie you see who it which is nightmarish, and then you realize that it's holding a hammer, and it is one of the craziest things I've ever seen.
Bo: Uh yeah, so rec, let's let's do it. Let's put it on the list, people.
Bo: What are we even doing? Alright. Uh let's start with uh let's just start with arachnophobia. Way better than arachnophobia, better than X Cross.
Bo: Better than Near Dark, better than Abigail, better than City of the Living Dead. Now we're in top five territory right off the bat.
Bo: Is Wreck better than the Innkeepers?
Bo: Yes. Scientifically speaking, the Innkeepers is a beautifully crafted ghost story. Rec is a beautifully crafted scary.
Bo: And just as a pure horror movie
Bo: Uh is is is incredible. Like Joseph talked about that that shot down the stairwell where you see all of these like you know, possessed creatures looking up at you and screeching and running.
Bo: It's terrible.
Bo: Uh so yeah, so but then we get into Bug, which is weirdly in kind of that same conversation of a movie that just escalates and escalates and escalates, and it's it's terrifying and tense.
Bo: And and in many ways a a a spiritual cousin to Wreck and and similar and intense Um is Wreck better than Bug, which also is saying something about uh you know the emotional state of its characters while being psychologically devastated.
Bo: And and I I think as surely as it rocketed up the list, this might be where Rex stops. Because while Wreck is an incredible scareman.
Bo: Bug also has that added level of the psych the psychology plus the incredible Michael Shannon performance in that. Um
Bo: I think so. I I think that's where it stops. But we're talking
Bo: Look, this is Rarefied Air people. Now, is is Rec
Bo: Uh going to be in the the top five uh when we're done with this list. I don't know. I don't know. But it it sure is held in the top five right now.
Bo: Um
Bo: Okay. I like it. Look at that top five though. The haunting the omen bug wrecking the innkeepers. That's a good fucking day. That's a good day of movie wise.
Bo: Uh all right. Look, we're not done. We got all the Rick movies to do.
Bo: Uh so let's let's talk about rec 2. Um rec two, I had a really interesting reaction watching.
Bo: Which I I always remembered Rek Two being almost as good but not quite as the original.
Bo: On watching it this time, the thing I realized
Bo: Is that Rec 2 does most of the things that Rec 1 does. With characters I'm less interested in.
Bo: But I don't think it's a very good Rec movie. Um and and we're gonna get into some controversial territory in a minute, folks. Uh I can feel it coming. But Rec two, I
Bo: I don't think the kid story is all that interesting. It like it doesn't happen until the very end. I think
Bo: Or in the last like what, thirty, forty minutes of the movie is when the kids finally show up and and they're like, Oh, hey, there's this parallel story that's been running alongside your story with, you know, the cops and this priest who is who is snuck in.
Bo: Um, and then all of a sudden there's Angula Anjala Vidal and you're like, Okay, so what's going on with this character again? And then you get
Bo: That answer, but also she doesn't show up until the movie's almost over. And I did not find it to be a great watch.
Bo: Uh, I think there are good gags. Like it is still a movie that that passes the Mendoza line. I mean, when we're talking about the cleansing hour, is Rec 2 better than the Cleansing Hour? Yes.
Bo: But how much better? Well, you know.
Bo: That's the question. That's the question. Uh let's get to it.
Bo: All right. Cleansing hour. Better than the cleansing hour. Is it better than infested?
Bo: Um Yes. Yes, I'm trying to remove my affection for Wreck.
Bo: When I think about Ret 2. I do think that it expands the lore in ways that are kind of interesting, if a little ham handy.
Bo: The thing with the kid in the ceiling is pretty good. That's a pretty good gap.
Bo: Um The the like, oh they can also sound like other people and also just praying kind of fucks'em up.
Bo: Uh, that stuff is sort of interesting and certainly comes into it later in the series.
Bo: Um
Bo: Okay. But is it better than Infested? Uh I think Under Paris, as much as it it pains me to say it, I think Under Paris, scientifically speaking, is a better movie than Rec 2.
Bo: Um
Bo: I do think it's better than Infested. So I think Rick II.
Bo: Becomes our new number twenty three. Um Okay.
Bo: You know, we are still I'm just looking at the list. We are still here is better, Sting is better, arachnophobia. Like yes, all of this this is where this belongs. I had I I had to
Bo: sit with it for a second, but that that does work. And I think Joseph, you're right, that Rec Two is better if you watch it immediately after. But I did that and even then I was like, this is not
Bo: As good a time. This is not as scary. Like Rec still scares me. Rec 2 unnerves me at times. Like there's a little bit of tension to be found, but nothing in the caliber of Rec. Um
Bo: Which brings us to some really interesting territory as we start to talk about Rec 3 Genesis and beyond. Uh Um I had only seen both of these movies once when I revisited them uh to to talk about four uh
Bo: Um and other reasons. Like I I've I have other ulterior reasons to be watching the Rick movies right now, but uh for the most part I was watching
Bo: uh wreck just for for goofs. Uh because I I it had been a while. Um Rec three Genesis.
Bo: Does a thing that a lot of people hate it for, which is to move abruptly away from found footage. And one of the things I like about Rec 3 Gen. is that the first what, fifteen minutes are all found footage, uh as you see, uh, one of the member of the bridal party's got a camera.
Bo: Um, and is filming and then there's another guy who's got a steady cam, and he's filming the wedding too, and you're like, oh, okay, well that's that's how they're gonna explain all of that.
Bo: Um, and then at a certain point they're just like, why are you carry like when things really pop off? They're like, why are you holding up that camera like shit's going down? We we don't have time for this.
Bo: And then the movie throws up a late title card, and the rest of the movie is not found footage. And I like that. I think that is
Bo: you know, putting up putting a flag in the in the ground of like, all right, look, I know this is what these movies have been. We're going a different direction. We're gonna give you a little taste of it, uh, and we're gonna have a little fun with it, but we're gonna make a pitch.
Bo: And I don't have a problem with that. I don't mind that the fact that Rec evolved into a franchise that just stopped being found foot.
Bo: Um, I don't I don't have a problem with that at all. Then you get to well, okay, so if it's a real movie, does it operate like a real movie? And it mostly does. I think the problem with rec three.
Bo: is that it's At the heart of it, it's the story of two people who are getting married, they get separated, and then the whole movie is them trying to find each other as everyone around them becomes these possessed zombies.
Bo: And they've got to figure out a way to find each other again and you know, are they still alive? You know, maybe they're still alive, maybe they're not alive, no, I can feel them, blah, blah, blah. Um
Bo: And Joseph points out, like, it it's it's fun. There is a bit of an evil dead vibe to it because it it gets real over the top. Like the chainsaw showing up is not the uh
Bo: That's no accident, right? Um so all of that stuff is Uh I think Rec 3 Genesis, uh the the like I s I was saying, the problem with it is that you spend so much time bringing these characters together that by the time you you do bring them together, the movie's pretty much done.
Bo: And I wish there had been like I I get that the movie has told me that they love each other and they say that to other people and I've gotta find them. I just wish there were a little bit more with our two main characters.
Bo: Uh the knockoff SpongeBob is very funny. Uh Sponge John, I think is his name. Um that's very funny.
Bo: There are really good bits like the uh the husband getting all decked out and
Bo: you know, the medieval chess plate and wielding a mace and all of that stuff. I I think that was fun. They you know, they bring back the religious stuff where a priest uses the PA system to read the Lord's Prayer and read the the first chapters of Genesis and
Bo: Um you know, and that freezes all the zombies and discom discombobulates them and whatnot.
Bo: Uh you know, that stuff is really fun. It's you know, it it it is more campy, good time, sloppy, gross horror than it is You know, the scare factory that is rec three.
Bo: Um And uh, you know, uh like it it's it's fun for the most part, it's briskly paced.
Bo: It's it's just not great, you know? Uh whereas Wreck is great and and I think the franchise peaks there, right?
Bo: Uh okay, so let's let's get to the list. Where does rec three uh fall on our list? And look, I'm gonna say right off the bat, better than rec 2.
Bo: Uh R Rec Three is a better film than Rec Rec Two. Um Is it better than Under Paris? Um Y-Y-E-S?
Bo: I think it's better than House by the Cemetery, even.
Bo: Ooh, we are still here, that's interesting. Is Rec three Genesis scientifically better or worse than we are still here?
[Silence]
Bo: I think I cared more about the couple in rec three. It's more fun.
Bo: Like I have a better time, I get more laughs out of it. I think that the like the grinning uncle zombie that kicks off all the the heinous shit of Rec 3 is a better villain.
Bo: Than you have and we're still here. Like the We're Still Here ghosts are are fun and all, but I uh I yes, I think it's better than We're Still Here. Um
Bo: Is it uh it's not as good as Overlord. Overlord as a like over the top bloody popcorn action horror movie, Overlord is just more competent.
Bo: better made and all of that stuff. It like that is scientifically speaking, Overlord is a better, more well put together movie. Arachnophobia is probably a consistently better movie than Um I might is Reg 3 better than Steam?
Bo: Sting has a good, you know, family story at the heart of it and it's got some good uh spider business going on. I think I think
Bo: I think Reg Three is better though. Uh I think that's right. I think, you know, ironically, Rig Three Genesis, a top twenty uh horror movie.
Bo: Uh but reg three, Genesis, your new number nineteen.
Bo: Uh lot of distance between Rec 2, Rec 3, and the original Rec. But as was alluded to
Bo: there in the chat. At some point we have to talk about where this series And that of course means we talk about rec four apocalypse.
Bo: Um man man I when I saw Rec for Apocalypse and it was like hey it's the return of Engela Vidal Uh when I heard hey it's gonna be the return of Anula Um, and it is going to be like this big finale.
Bo: And I'm like, all right, fine. We're not doing found footage anymore. We're gonna do a straight ahead narrative, but it's gonna have our our main character from the first one. But oh, by the way, at the end of the second one.
Bo: Doesn't she become possessed by a maggot or something?
Bo: and and find her way out of the building that way. And that's kind of the big question mark of Rec4.
Bo: Uh Reg Four takes place on a boat. They they reference the previous movies where, hey, we have survivors from uh these two outbreaks, we were able to contain them, but we've got to put
Bo: with a bunch of these other people, including the firefighter who rescued her, the an old woman from the party from Rec 3, uh, as well as some scientists and a crew to try to figure out Um What
Bo: Uh what this virus is, is there an antidote? Um and so we're also gonna infect some monkeys.
Bo: uh with with this, you know, rage virus for lack of a better term, like somebody somebody saw
Bo: uh twenty eight days later. Um yeah, and then you know, we're off to the races. That's Reg four. Uh we're trying to figure out why is is Anula not infected
Bo: Uh is she really infected? Is the thing hiding inside her? Who is really like it tries to do a little bit of the thing with this movie, but it doesn't have the chops to pull off the thing.
Bo: Um and
Bo: And I guess it it it's worth saying that this is not uh Jame Bag Balaguero and Paco Plaza. It is just Jame Balaguerero. Um and
Bo: It's just unsatisfying. The the only character I really like is Nick, the guy who who works the radio and also is a computer hacker.
Bo: Uh, and also is the guy who knows how to work the boat. And yeah, I mean It uh like this should be the last this should be the action
Bo: Showcase for Anula. If you're gonna do a big bombastic version of Rec, you need to do it in a big bombastic way. It needs to be the Terminator 2 of the Rec franchise.
Bo: And instead it's a whole lot of like we're trying to do this paranoid horror thriller.
Bo: But at the end of the day we know this is all gonna descend into zombies chasing people around on a boat. Why are we fucking around with all this other stuff? Let's get to that and make that scary.
Bo: And you know, cool quit screwing around with this is she isn't she thing with Annula Angala. Um Yeah, it's like th this series deserved better than to go out on Rec for a podcast.
Bo: Um it should be more fun. It should be crazier. I know the boat finally blows up at the end and all, but all of this should be bigger and louder and gorier and Like there's a scene where she gets chased by some
Bo: you know, d demon monkeys and that oughta be more fun than it is. That feels kind of cheap because a lot of times you just hear like cages rattling as she's climbing a ladder. It feels like they were trying to make a movie
Bo: That was too big for the budget that they had. And all of these concessions of scaling it down and scaling it down.
Bo: Uh like r this should have been holy shit, the demons are everywhere.
Bo: Anhala has to return and save somebody. Like this needed to be bigger and better and louder and more fun and gorier and it should have been everything. Like Rec three is a good time.
Bo: This isn't even a good time. You know, there's no fun in this movie really.
Bo: Which is crazy for a movie that has as a weapon a boat propeller, but even that doesn't feel as fun as it oughta. Uh, it's really disappointing. Rick four is a real disappointment.
Bo: Okay. Let's put it on the list.
Bo: Is Rec four Rec four is better than Rec or I'm sorry. Rec three is better than Rec four. Let's start there. Um
Bo: Is, scientifically speaking, is the house by the cemetery better than Rec 4 Apocalypse? Yes. Here's an interesting one. Is Rec 4 better or worse than Rec 2?
Bo: Ugh Reg 2 is kind of a mess, and it's not a satisfying rec movie, but it's probably better than Reg 4.
Bo: In fact, in fact, the cleansing hour is probably better.
Bo: I don't know that I would recommend unless you just were a completist. I don't know that I would even recommend Rec4.
Bo: Um having seen it twice now, it's not good. Um
Bo: It's better than Terranet. Like it's better than the Phoenix incident and Exorcist Believer. Like it's better than that stuff.
Bo: The question is, is it better than vacancy? We know it's worse than the cleansing hour. Is it better than vacancy? Vacancy has truly unlikable characters.
Bo: This is a really dumb villain reveal.
Bo: Um You do get to see a zombie monkey cooked in a walk in Rec4 Apocalypse, and you don't get anything nearly that fun in vacancy.
Bo: So I would say then Reg Four Apocalypse becomes Uh our new number twenty seven.
[Silence]
Bo: Which suggests it's almost a good movie, and I think that's true.
Bo: I think that Rick for another draft of that script and it could have bo been more interesting.
Bo: Uh so there you have it. We are we've got forty-two movies on the list. Next time uh we will no doubt hit uh a top fifty, which is pretty exciting. Um
Bo: So right now, The Haunting, the Omen, Bug, Wreck, the Innkeepers, Top Five, Bottom Five, Unknown Visitor at the Bottom, Gods of the Deep, Vampire Next Door, Lost Voyage, and Blackwater Abyss.
Bo: uh abysmal films. Um all right, guys. That is it. Thanks for hanging out. Thanks for chatting. Thanks for helping me back up the science. Um
Bo: You know, experiments need observation, uh, criticism. I'm thinking after we do the next one, or as part of the next one.
Bo: I think we do a reevaluation, we make sure that we feel good about everything. Perhaps a slight reshuffle if if we feel like any of that is necessary.
Bo: Um but yeah, there we go. Uh that is going to do it for this time. Uh again, thanks for being a Patreon subscriber to Legion Podcasts. Uh you can find this there if you did not watch it live. Uh
Bo: And uh thanks for watching the Dark Parade and listening to the Dark Parade and all that stuff. Uh be back real soon. We're gonna be, you know, continuing to do fun stuff throughout the summer, so more stuff coming. Uh alright guys, have a great Friday, have a great weekend, and I will talk to you soon.
